Pierre Girardin, Burgundy's young talent

Son of Vincent Girardin. who sold his world-famous estate in 2011, Pierre started producing his own wines on vintage 2017, with plots located in Puligny-Montrachet and Pommard and, more recently, in some of the most prestigious Côtes-de-Nuits sites.

Soils are ploughed and regenerated with organic manure. Convinced that the grapes ripen by exposure to sun, but also as a result of photosynthesis, Pierre advocates raising the trellises rather than carrying out green harvesting.

Interventions In the cellar are minimal. No need for over-extract If the grapes are ripe enough. Indigenous yeasts and ageing on lees ensure that each vintage has its own unique identity. Whole bunches are left in different proportions depending on the cuvée, adding extra character to his wines without making them austere. “That’s how I create the wines that I love” says Pierre.
